Question

I need a new roof and I’m thinking of going with a foam roof. Is polyurethane roofing safe? I like that it’s insulated. I just need to know if you recommend foam roofing, not necessarily the company. It’s going to be expensive, but perhaps worth it

Answer

Good question Wendy. Foam roofing is very expensive, but with the insulation provided it can be a great benefit to your home – especially if you have a tar and gravel (they often sag because of the weight). Foam roofing is very light and very water tight. There is a drawback, however. According to pros similar to the roofers in Easley, SC, you must re-coat a foam roof every year. You might want to get a bid on 65 mil polyurethane sheet roofing (much like a swimming pool liner). It can be placed directly over rigid foam insulation and also is very high quality. About the same price, but no annual maintenance and the same long live guarantee. Both of these types of roofing are recommended for flat roofs only. You can ask an expert like this Houston roofing company to guide you.
