It’s back to school (with a new twist). Some students have internet laundry on their list

It’s back-to-school time, with a new twist! Some students have internet laundry on their lists this year. Today you’ll learn how some will be using ?e-suds? to help ’em wash and clean their dirty duds.

A new website will connect washers and dryers to computers, cellphones, PDAs and pagers, and will alert users when laundry is done in linked machines. Initial target users are college students, who will be able to virtually view Laundromats, where each machine will be indicated as Available or In Use, and the time remaining. Better yet, if it’s a machine you are using, it’ll contact you when your washing and / or drying is done. is also a cash-less system, meaning you pay by computer as well.

Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA, now has it—and the four thousand students using it love it! So, can other internet-linked Laundromats, and even home, washers and dryers be far behind? We think not!
