Attic-Dek Floor System
Dancer Ginger Rogers was born on this day, and for 70 films spanning six decades, we watched her ‘step’ with partner Fred Astaire. Today, if you have little-used unfinished attic space over your garage or inside living area, you too have to watch your step when up there to avoid putting your foot through the ceiling! This is why folks often lug heavy sheets of plywood or OSB (oriented strand board) up there to create an actual floor and prevent ?drop-ins?. Today, there’s an easier way: Attic-Dek, which is an inter-locking ‘system’ of 16-inch square grids made of rugged plastic. It installs without measuring or cutting and is secured to joists with just five screws. When in place, the grid allows insulation to breathe and makes visually tracking cables and wiring a snap. It is available in packs of four, and a 24-inch square will soon be available as well. Why ?haul and install? expensive panels when you can easily add the brand new Attic-Dek grid?
