Warm up chilly ground water and save
Want to save big money on your utility bill? Ground water supplied to your home travels through underground pipes and the cool earth chills the liquid to 55 degrees Fahrenheit or less – naturally. The problem. Cold water is more expensive to heat than water at room temperature. So, here’s the money saving suggestion.
Add an old water heater in-line and before the one you now have. Don’t connect the gas to it, and make sure to remove any insulation from around the tank. Cool ground water will enter the “pre-heating tank,” and be warmed to room temperature – before it enters your water heater. The naturally pre-warmed water will cost less to head, saving precious heating fuel and your pocket book. Drain and bypass the preheater during cold months.
