Robert DeNiro, who appeared in Godfather 2, was born August 17, 1943. His character, Vito Corleone, would be very pleased by a hot new trend that’s happening today: decorative concrete. ?Yeah, that sounds-a like a good thing!? Indeed it is, Vito!

Colorful concrete creations for sidewalks, driveways, decks and patios are just the start! Now it’s gone indoors too, and is being used with stains and various media to create dramatic floors and countertops. For existing “plain old gray” concrete, it makes a great cover-up. As Vito would say, “I like cover-ups’that’s a good thing!”

Today, integrally colored concrete is number one; stamped concrete and patterns are next, followed by surface treatments such as chemical stains, stenciled and sandblasted patterns, and a variety of overlay products. Regardless of the technique or treatment used, whether mixed with other materials or hand-tooled, it’s durable, fire-proof, and maintenance-free…and it makes very nice-looking concrete shoes.
