Remove Flooring like a Pro
By onthehouse on May 24, 2014
Are you reflooring your kitchen, bathroom or den and removing old vinyl sheet goods so you can begin? Here’s how the pros remove big sections of flooring — both fully adhered and perimeter-bonded vinyl goods — without wrestling with huge chunks at one time.
Large sections of old vinyl flooring are more easily managed by cutting them into 12-inch-wide strips across the entire length or width of a room.
Then lift up one end, wrap it around a cardboard tube or a dowel rod or a piece of pipe (anything round), and roll the tube across the floor, peeling and rolling up the easy-to-handle strip of vinyl as you go. That’s how to do it like a pro.
