A programmable thermostat offers the most control of your heating and cooling comfort and saves energy expenses. It will allow you to set different temperatures for different times of the day, different times on different days like a weekend. In the winter you can set it to automatically lower the temperature when you leave for work and raise it an hour before returning home. The same is true for the summer.
