Easy Circuit Shut Off
Fifty years or so ago, in the golden age of radio, programs such as “Dragnet” and “the Shadow” graced the airwaves. Famous cowboys did too — Gene Autry, Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers. Most had sidekicks like the Lone Ranger’s Tonto. Today, radio is still good entertainment. It can be your sidekick, if you’re home alone doing electrical work.
Nobody wants to be running back and forth trying to ascertain if the electrical circuit they’re working on is “off.” Trial and error can end in a shocking fashion. Instead, leave a radio playing loudly where you’ll be working. Then turn off circuit-breakers or loosen fuses until you hear the sound go off. That will tell you you’ve got the right switch and that the circuit is safe to work on. Be safe; make your radio your sidekick.
