Close Your Open Door

Open and close a door enough times and, eventually, you’ll have problems. It’s just simple science and plain old wear and tear. Here’s a trick used by the pros: If a door starts hitting the jamb when you close it and sticks a bit when you go to open it, before you try planing or sanding the edge, try these simple fixes.
Perhaps a hinge has worked loose. If so, tighten the screws. If that doesn’t help, try adjusting the hinge by moving the hinge pin up to the top barrel and bending the barrels of the door-side hinge toward the latch side — just a bit. Then tap the hinge pin back down into place and try it again. Chances are good that you’ve solved the problem.
