Clean Contacts on Doorbell Button
By onthehouse on March 25, 2014
It’s said “the postman only rings twice.” That should be sufficient, unless your doorbell is broken. In that case, you might be a lonely person. Don’t be lonely — simply make a quick-and-easy repair.
Doorbell systems don’t have many moving parts. So, little can go wrong. One of the single-most common problems is corroded connections at the pushbutton unit. To make a fix, remove the cover from the pushbutton, loosen the screw connections, remove the wires and clean them until they shine.
Use the edge of a dull knife, sandpaper or emery cloth to do the job. Reattach the wire, and chances are you won’t be lonely any more.
