Better Business Bureau (BBB)/CSLB, Do they Really Work for Consumers?

Question
It’s been my experience, that both the BBB (Better Business Bureau), and the state (contractor’s state license board) tend to protect the contractor and conceal any wrong-doing. I think that word of mouth is a better way to find a capable, qualified contractor.

Answer
Although word-of-mouth is a sound method of hiring a contractor, it should not be considered the only way.The agencies to which you refer are there for the consumer. Approached with patience, they can be wonderful allies and can provide helpful information not available elsewhere.
