Baking soda can be your No. 1 household defense because it’s got at least 50 different uses around the home. A box in the fridge captures nasty odors — in the freezer, too. A few sprinkles in sneakers work wonders. It eats pet odors on carpets, too. You can brush your teeth with it or make a paste to clean silver. Add lemon juice to it to clean copper pots, and put it in water to make an antacid for indigestion. Have trouble getting rubber gloves on? Sprinkle in some baking soda and they’ll slip right on. Got a clogged drain? Mix 1 cup of baking soda with 1 cup of salt and 1 cup of vinegar. Pour it in your drain, followed by boiling water. There are so many things you can do with baking soda. We’re discovering new uses every day. You can even use baking soda for baking.
