The Flintstones debuted on TV on this day in 1960, with Fred and Wilma living in a cave in Bedrock. While a bit primitive in many ways, this cave had clever upgrades that made it okay and if your digs are a bit primitive, too, you might want to do some upgrading of your own.

If you live in a house with no forced-air HVAC, and you wish you could add it without a hassle, now you can thanks to a new technology called high velocity / mini-air-duct distribution?! Basically, it replaces the need for retro-fitting conventional ductwork in walls and under floors by using a perimeter ring of narrow ductwork up in the attic or crawl space, and a series of small two-inch tube-type ducts coming off of that. It allows you to pipe heated-air (also from a mini-unit installed up above) into rooms below as needed; the system puts as many outlets in rooms as you wish and delivers both heat and cooling.
