Temporary Storm Windows Made Easy

By on April 19, 2014

Many of our readers in cold climates share a common problem — drafty windows. A great way to eliminate a bone-chilling window draft is to make your own temporary storm windows. And it’s a lot easier than you think. Fast too.

Just go down to your local home center or hardware store and look for a product called temporary storm window. It’ll be in a small box — just a couple of inches square. Before you install it, be sure to clean off any dust and other loose particles around the window frame. Then all you have to do is remove the clear plastic sheet of film from the package and tape it up around the window opening, using the double-sided tape included in the kit.

Place the plastic so it completely covers the opening and fully sticks to the tape all the way around. Now you have an excellent temporary storm window! And don’t worry if it looks a little wrinkled, because once it’s up, you just heat the plastic film with a hair dryer and presto! — it shrinks up tight as a drum.

If you need permanent storm windows, you may contact an Impact Window Supplier and discuss your needs and the budget you’ve allocated for the windows.
