Choosing a real Christmas, or artificial, tree and the History of the festive tree

By on December 13, 2015

Every Christmas tradition begins somewhere, and those of us who follow Christmas tree trends know that more and more families are building their holiday traditions around artificial Christmas trees.

According to the National Christmas Tree Association, there are close to 350 million Christmas trees currently growing on Christmas tree farms in the United States alone and about 25 to 30 million real Christmas trees sold every year.

It’s no surprise that 14.7 million fake trees were sold in the United States last year, despite their high price tag of $81 on average. In comparison, 33 million real trees were sold at an average price of $35 each in 2013.

Check out these infographics on tree facts, real vs. fake Christmas trees and the history behind the festive tree.
